What is October?
OCTOBER® Work-In-Progress is an independent design studio in London specialising in UI/UX Interface Design for Apps and Websites.
Do you only do UI & UX?
Not at all, although we specialise in Interface Design we do have a wealth of experience doing a range of projects from Branding to Video Advertisement, Pitch Deck Creation, Development, Social Media Marketing/Strategy and more.
If you're unsure if we're the studio for you –– get in touch and if we think there's a better fit for what you need we'll happily introduce you to them.
We partner up and collaborate with a lot of other studios and freelancers so chances are if it's not us, we'll know someone perfect for what you need.
What is UI/UX Design?
User Interface (UI) or User Experience (UX) Design is the field of design involving the visual interfaces (the parts you touch and interact with) of apps, websites and other digital products.
Our team has been designing interfaces since 2012 and we believe that an obsession for the details paired with a big vision is extremely important. A truly good experience should be easy to use, accessible to all and well –– almost unnoticable.
In the early days of the app store people would put up with a messy design or a user journey that wasn't ideal. Today the bar is a lot higher. Your customers use best-in-class products and services like Spotify, Uber, and Airbnb every day and they've come to expect the same high experience with everything they use.
We strive to provide these experiences through pixel-perfect designs that just feel right. We love to experiment and innovate while ensuring the basics are on point too.
UI/UX is an art, but it's also a science and we treat it with the level of care it deserves.
Are you the right studio for my project?
It depends on what you need –– we work with companies big and small with a range of budgets. Sometimes they already have a product for us to work on and sometimes we're doing the first version with them.
We're always as up-front as possible when speaking potential clients, and we're also as selective with our clients as you should be with your studio choice. We'll only take on the work if we think we're a perfect match.

What kinds of companies do you work with?
We work with all sorts of companies from newly-founded tech startups to global corporations to government agencies, drinks companies, record labels and music artists.
Due to ongoing Non-Disclosure Agreements there is a number of clients we are unable to disclose or publicise.
Do you only handle the design, or can you build our product too?
We can handle as much or as little of the process as you like. From half-day consulting to help you work out and ideate what you need, right through to the full Design & Development and beyond.
Why are you called October?
There's no super deep backstory or deeper meaning here. James, the founder of October was born on October 1st.
Unfortunately we're not affiliated with Drake's OVO (October's Very Own) but we'd love to work with them one day. Drake, if you're reading this it's not too late, just call me on my cell phone.
Are you expensive?
This is a difficult question to answer.
We're obsessive about the quality of the work that we deliver, and we believe that in general, but especially in design –– you get what you pay for.
Whatever your budget it's likely that we'll be able to work together and we often explore different options with clients including taking equity in companies we believe in to offset costs.
I'm a freelancer or independent creative.
We regularly need specialists for specific projects, or work with freelancers to support our core team on client projects or something we're working on internally. Whatever you do we'd love to hear about it and bring you into our collective.
We're holding an event, are you available to speak?
We're fundraising, can you help?
We regularly work with companies ahead of fundraising on their pitch decks and other materials. Additionally we're closely connected with a number of Angel Investors, Pre-Seed, and Seed-Stage Venture Investment Funds, and we'd be more than happy to introduce you to them.
